A New Day, A New Goal
Turns out Timbur's BHAG wasn't hairy enough so we'll set a new goal.
We did about an hour and half worth of cargo runs and that enabled us to get around 200k per caterpillar in profit. If we can keep this pace up everyday, that would mean we could add another 5 million caterpillar to the fleet every 5 days. A Caterpillar a week sounds like a great plan.
Starting bright and early we were able to field five caterpillars across the verse. It's great to see our coordination as we travel across the system and divide up the work. Between our small crew we can cover all the main outposts. Most trips our earning us around 60k to 100k, which is pretty low in the current patch, considering the time it takes to fly out to the outpost, then land back at the major landing zones, take the tram and sell at the major sell point. I've been traveling to multiple locations over the past week seeing where the best prices are and attempting to track some trends. Prices appear to be fluctuating daily and even hourly if a trader is actively working a single route. Working just out of Lyria today the price of Titanium was different at each location, and Humboldt mines had the lowest price, where yesterday Sal -5 was the lowest price.
Today ToastyJackson joined us we had a great time showing him the ropes of trading. He's been rocking the freelancer, and doing quite well with it at that. The great thing about the freelancer is that you can go for those limited commodities like Agricium, Laranite or other high profit per unit items, and your less likely to run into sell limits. We paid him 15% of the profit we made so he came out with an easy 60,000 credits. Toasty, we hope to see you in the verse again soon.
Players are excited about the upcoming 3.9 patch, some even seeming to say that the patch could drop any day as there has been a lot of developer activity on spectrum. Also, with the new green ships up for grabs many new and old players alike are picking up that $35 P-72 as a nice new LTI token in celebration of Stella Fortuna.

A thought today was the little credits that we are earning today will be nothing compared to what we could be earning in future patches. If you figure right now we're earning about 200k an hour per caterpillar. The upper limit we've ever reached is around a million credits per hour. Jumptown in all it's glory, could really only earn 10,000 credits a minute or 600,000 an hour, because you could only sell a fixed amount per tick at the single outpost at Levski. Though it was never really possible to get to that amount. Tram & Myers to Port Olisar, with no limit on selling diamond, Titanium and Laranite could support around four caterpillars per trip, and if you were fast enough you could do one run every 10 minutes. That route could earn 86,000 per Caterpillar, so two caterpillar could about 17,000 credits per minute or a little over a million per hour. A few times we were able to run 4 caterpillars out of Tram and Myers to port Olisar earning close to 2 million credits per hour.
Laranite on the other one could earn 6 profit per unit so a full cat would be 345,600 profit, and could be done in 20 minutes (20 minutes is very fast in a Cat, likely not possible), so just about a million credits per hour.
The reason I mention these past rates is it sets a baseline expectation. Let's say a million credits an hour is the best we can do now, how much could we expect to earn when other systems are added, for example pyro. I'm hoping for a high risk, high gain scenario where a million plus credits could be earned by a small 5 to 6 man crew. The mission might include a fully crewed Caterpillar with an escort for example, the last line of defense being on the turret gunner in the cat who's ability to shoot down a mantis, then the pilot jumps to safety seconds before a retailator torpedo blows the ship to oblivion. Missions like this could happen in the game.
Goal: Buy two more Drake Caterpillars by 3.9.
As it turns out my big hairy audacious goal wasn't hairy enough so we'll have to up it to a Cat a week until 3.9 hits and we'll see just how many cats we can get. Let's figure we have until the end of the month for the patch to hit so that's about a week and half worth of cargo. That sounds like just enough to get another two Drake Caterpillars by 3.9. Let's make it happen!Daily Review:
