Timbur's Log,  The most valuable asset to any captain is their crew and ship. Today that principle holds true. It started with just an average cargo run, Area 18 to Wala. I teamed up with Blue_Rath who had acquired a Reclaimer but needed a pick up as he was having some quantum drive issues. We then headed to 045. The Laranite supply had recently been depleted so we stocked up on Diamond and flew to Area 18. While at port we recruited a new player to join our crew. Welcome Pwnership to discord! He is a brand new player to Star Citizen, has been playing for the past 24 hours straight! He said he needed some credits as he ran into a few bugs trying to do a delivery mission, having struggled a few hours to earn 7500 credits, so we thought to give him a hand. We load up the Caterpillar and do our second run. This time it had a full stock of Laranite. Again Blue Rath is flying and lands the ship nicely in the hanger. At this point SQ is running into a few issues getting out to Area 18, s

Timbur's Log, Today was a good day for trading, I teamed up with my epic brand of brothers, Selwyn_Lindquist, and Rich_Banks. We were able to double team Laranite, covering Wala and Cellin. (We basically have a monopoly on the Laranite supply in Stanton). We were also joined by Zarian_Reese who we managed to trick into running cargo with us. (It wasn't so bad was it Zarian?) We also teamed up with Blue_Rath and Dewd who teamed up to clear Blue's crime stat again. Better keep a sharp eye on Blue.  Right, so today we set a Goal of trying to earn 750,000 credits. I figured I could do that in 4 trips at 200k a trip. But after teaming up with Selwyn, we knocked out over 894,000 in only 3 runs. Add in Rich's new balance of 2.5, and that gives us a profit of nearly 1.6 million today alone, and that's just a few hours of trading. I'll see you in the verse my friends.
I may be the odd man out, but Commodity Trading in 3.6.0 is absolutely incredible. I never thought of myself as a cargo trader when getting into Star Citizen but the new patch is so good with trading I have a hard time putting the game down. Hands down the biggest quality of life feature is the consoles showing the demand, and only accepting their limit. This combined with the slow refresh times it makes going from place to place worth while, and finding the right spots to support that supply and demand a gold mine. Let's get into the details. Commodity Availability. The devs have got commodity availability down really well in this patch. Crusader and it's moons is a hot spot for small time traders, who can really make it work by just trading from those moons to Port Olisar and Grim Hex. Like Jack Axton said, I feel like the new commodity availability pushes big time traders like myself to ArcCorp and Hurston, which makes the game play feel really good. The limited supply and d

Just a quick update here: I've adjusted our goal for this week so that we can ideally earn that next caterpillar by the end of the week, being Friday 8/2. To stay on track we'll need to earn 750,000 profit per day between all the traders. Now's a perfect time to pull out your hauling ship and contribute. Today's goal was met thanks to Rich_Bank who's caterpillar is now up to 1.5 million. If you're looking to haul just send me a PM or message below.

How to Pick a Route in Star Citizen

Image
When picking the right routes it's important to understand the most important factors, Supply and Demand, Contribution Margin, how much you plan to risk, and how much cargo space you have in your ship. There's not a really good third party solution that accounts for all these factors, but let's stick with a few that I've been using. First, to go https://gallog.co/trading/ enter in your ship, and enter your UEC. For this guide I'll only be looking at the most profitable routes for the freelancer Max starting with over 300,000 credits. I've also added a filter to avoid vices. If you need more credits you're welcome to team up with me any day of the week for the daily cargo run.  The first commodity that pops up is ArcCorp Mining Area 045 on Walla to Area 18 on ArcCorp. Note, that I'm avoiding Grim Hex and the Orphanage because your ship is likely to get blown up on the pad at Grim Hex is, and the orphanage is an unmarked drug lab. Area 18 has secur

Timbur's Log, Today I started of with Tram & Myers and found that the demand was already satisfied at Port Olisar for Diamond, so I went on down to Wala to pick up some laranite and haul it to Area 18. I managed to do just a few trips and made of 528,000 in just a few trips. The downside is that Area 18 is so far away from Port Olisar, and where most players hang out, so I had to make the trek back. I've got to remember to haul scrap back to Port Olisar when I go, as I keep forgetting. currently with interdiction, it seems pretty common to get interdicted at least 3 times when traveling between ArcCorp and Crusader, where your much less likely to get interdicted when you are just in a single planetary system. It would be interesting to figure out if certain routes are more likely to have interdiction as compared to other or is it just all completely random. Today I team up BlueRath, Selwyn, Dewderonomy and El_Dio. The first task, apart from me taking forever to get back t

Timbur's Log, I was able to verify Laranite at Arccorp Mining area 045! This is a big deal because it appears that it will respawn a full load of laranite by the time one caterpillar gets back to the location. This means that this cargo run is repeatable at least until the price drops. Tram & Myers continues to be a great route to run but in this session (not counting the loss 200,000 on Rich's Caterpillar), the Laranite run earned twice as much is the tram run in the same amount of time. And that was despite all the glitches and setbacks that we experienced. Next, if we can streamline the run then it could be even more profitable. To streamline the run from Area 18 to Wala we'll need to be fast enough to run to the terminal, sell the laranite and take the ship off the hanger before the station stores the ship. I'll then run out of the station spawn a faster small ship and beat the caterpillar to the outpost. I'll buy the commodities, then head back and land

Timbur's Log, We're back to  hauling cargo today. There is a super secure route from the TDD at Area at to the building next to it, IO Tower or the North Tower also on area 18 selling agricultural supplies. It's not much but it's something if you really need to earn credits securely. At 1 credit a unit, about 60,000 credits is all you'll need. Keep in mind the demand is limited so you can only sell a few caterpillar loads before they won't buy any more. Today we went back to Tram and Myers, we found that in about 5 trips in the caterpillar will deplete the demand at Port Olisar. It's worth 250,000 credits to do it but you can't get much more than 5 trips in. Laranite there, is likely limited to one trip, and the price of titanium continues to be too high to buy. I teamed up with El_Dio, Rich Banks and Astral Wizard. After fulfilling the demand for diamond at Port Olisar, we headed to the other outpost to see if we could find a comparable route, th
Timbur's Log, Today I teamed up with Rich Banks, Selwyn Lindquist, El dio to do some cargo hauling. We started out with Tram and Myers on Cellin to Port Olisar, trading Diamond and Laranite until the demand at Port Olisar was completely depleted. Then moved to Wala and Area 18. Though the route makes more at Area 18 it also takes more time. If there is a large supply of Laranite at Wala it would be worth the time to run it but in this case the supply of Laranite was around 15,000 units at 045 and Wala was just over 2000 units. At that kind of supply it's not worth the time to run to Area 18. On the other side, Tram & Myers is profitable for only for a few runs until demand is satisfied at Port Olisar. We'll have to map out more routes that generate 10,000 profit per minute and work on our way to earn a caterpillar. If you're interested in flying a caterpillar please contact me as we're planning to buy a few more in game.
