Diamond Heist of Tram & Myers
Finding an abandoned Andromeda at Tram & Myers full of diamond the boys and I made a surprising discovery.
Cargo. The life blood of the Stanton system, delivering the necessary resources to fuel ships, repair stations and to turn the giants cogs of economy. Cargo hauling as been the life blood of the commerce department were thanks to the hard work of many a brave crew man and woman, we have generated millions of credits and established not just a company but a way of life.
Tram & Myers, Cellin, Stanton. After spending countless hours hauling freight from Tram & Myers to Port Olisar it's fitting that a new discovery would be found on our home turf.
Watch the highlight from the Live-Stream here.
Today we discovered and confirmed that cargo can be stolen from cargo vessels. After the constellation blew up, flying close we noticed the cargo boxes rendered into the frame. If a cargo ship can drop cargo, it can be loaded up, taken, and sold for a profit. We'll need to do more testing on this to see if this process can be repeated and if it can be sold in a reasonable time frame, but this is big news for pirates out there as their main game play loop is appears to work.
For us, we'll have to prove if this is feasible, if the profit per hour is there, but in terms of the market, there is little to no competition. If we can control trade routes with our cargo haulers right now, there doesn't seem to be anything preventing us from controlling those routes as privateers.
Bugs and Issues to Work Around:
Currently when a ship holding cargo is docked, visiting a trading terminal will cause the client to crash. When visiting the local Port Olisar Trade terminal, Astral's client crashed multiple times. Storing the ship had no effect.
We tried to get to a no questions asked terminal, but ran out of time. The other issue is we'll have to find a reliable fence to sell the illegal goods, and make sure there is ample demand for said goods. If we can't get to the outpost in a decent time frame, then there's no point. All these locations are unmarked, and even if you get a mission we won't be able to QT to the location unless we have another ship in the area to set the QT point. Add in Hurston's atmosphere and we could have had two runs of Laranite in the same time. Then, even if we get to the terminal will they be able to buy the amount we can supply them? Will the consoles also be bugged?
Questions:
Why are commodities on board a ship causing a client crash?
What is the demand for stolen goods?
How can we get to the fences in decent time?
Can we locate an unmarked location without a marker consistently?
Can we map out and locate multiple unmarked locations without a marker?
Can we trap enough cargo haulers to create enough supply of stolen goods?
So many questions so little time, I'll see you in the verse.
